Scavenger hunt

For my daughter's birthday party, we set up a quick scavenger hunt with scrabble tiles in little bags that unscramble to the next clue: closet, couch etc. Did you know that "shower" has the same letters as "whores"?

"Here's your prize, kid."
"That's a funny balloon."
"Get outta here, yer bad for business!"

Just when you think it can't get any worse....

I go on a rant a couple days ago about how much I miss full tilt and what happens? The entire company is proven to be a scam. Having said that, the thing tilt always seemed to get right was the software. Like most companies, there was a huge disconnect between management and the worker bees. Too bad management is a bunch of crooks. I still find it hard to believe Jesus, Furst and Lederer knew everything and still let the company go down the shitter. Or not.

Funny how ultimate cheat is just as bad, but drops off the face of the earth entirely....

Really what I'd like to be doing....

I've been using my iPad for more and more things lately, I've barely used my laptop in the last couple weeks. I can now even remote in to my work computer and run final cut and cinema4D and actually get things delivered to clients. This is all pretty remarkable, but as I sit here tonight what I'd really like to be doing is PLAYING FUCKING POKER FROM THE COMFORT OF MY OWN FUCKING HOME ON MY OWN FUCKING IPAD FUCKING COMPUTER.

Fuck you US fucking government.

FROM: MR RAYED BITARIUS

This was posted on Haley's blog today. Don't know who wrote it, but it's pretty damn funny if you've been following the FT bs lately....

In other blaarghish news... I've been donking off, then gaining back my $$ on cake, but really have not been playing all that much. I don't ever expect to see any of it, so I don't really care.... I really do miss Tilt and the rest of the bloggie crew....

Also watching some of Poker Stars Big Game. Last week (with Phil Laak and Nanonoko) was pretty fun to watch (the cannon was a bit of a dud, sorry to say... but cute).

British Invasion!

I've been following a few British poker blogs for a while, entertaining, witty, funny, and one in particular all of the above, with a good dose of frightening reality thrown in. Would-Be has been fighting all manner of addictions and mental problems; gambling, drugs, sex (but we could hardly call that an addiction), and has been jotting down every gory detail, from the highest highs, to the lowest lows. Somewhere along the line he found time to travel across Europe to every major capital to raise money for charity. He did this with the rule that he would travel without a penny (sorry, farthing) to his name, and rely solely on the kindness of the people he met on the way. He lived to tell the tale, and write a book.

Well, now he's at it again, this time in America. All 48 contiguous state capitals in the 3 months before his visa expires starting this June. If you want to help out, donate a couple bucks here. You can get a pdf of his last book here (worth the 5 bucks *edit* now down to 1.99!), and his travel website is here. Here's the link to Would-be, but he left a message saying he's shutting the blog down. Too bad, I think, but either it's run it's course, or he doesn't want possible future helpers to find out what a degen they're housing :)

And just for fun, check out a couple of my other English favs:

Amatay
Bossanova
Animal
Mudwig

And 2 of my all time favorites (besides would-be)
Rubbish
Gorilla Bananas (not a poker blogger, but funny and extremely well written)

SRSLY????

We have good news to report! Yesterday, the Department of Justice (DoJ) responded to the massive political and grassroots pressure generated by members of the Poker Players Alliance (PPA)  and is allowing U.S. players to access their funds from PokerStars.com and FullTiltPoker.com in the near future.
xxxooo - PPA

Are these ineffectual lard asses REALLY taking credit for strong arming the DOJ into releasing player money?

I think Wicked Chops gets way closer to the truth here...

EDIT: Bill Rini gets it!

.. and Grange totally gets it!

What a bunch of pukes.

What would it take?

Logging on to Cake last night reminded me of a promotion they sent out a few months back. They gave me 10 bucks to play, but with so many restrictions (only limit, 5 cent tables, stuff like that) I didn't even bother. In the email they asked "what would it take for you to put real $$ on our site?".

LOL - now you know, Cake. Well done.

Success!

Getting $$ on to cake. (getting it off is a whole other matter, but hell, I'll take my chances)

I'll probably throw a couple bucks onto a few different sites if I can, and see which ones work.

If anyone wants rakeback with cake, sign up with this:

I used Visa and it transferred pretty quickly.

I won 5 Buyins last night on Full Tilt!

At the 1k playchip tables.... sigh.

Saturday, April 16, 2011

Whaaaaaaaaaa!

Oh well.... seems every time I feel like I'm playing well and starting to get my mojo back, something happens to put me back to square one. Work too much to play, go on vacation, entire online existence implodes.... you get the idea.

I was one of the few yesterday that was actually able to log on to Tilt and play for $$. Made about $100 at 25NL rush before I logged off. I wasn't able to transfer, and since I've never taken $$ off, I couldn't even put a request for that in... I guess the DNS finally propagated, as I get that awesome FBI message this morning, and can't log in. I have to say, I was feeling a bit left out yesterday when everyone else was able to look at cool FBI shit.

I never put $$ on FT (freerolls, baby!), so I guess I can say easy come, easy go. But to help my friends that are losing their livelihoods, I'm creating the Blaargh Benefit for out of work Donkies. I'll help distribute playchips to needy poker players. The highlight will be a booth where you get to throw a rock at Bill Frist's nut sack (100 playchips per throw!). Don't worry, it won't hurt him. He hasn't used it in years.

Private tournaments

Keeping up with Stars, Full Tilt has now implemented Private tournaments. No idea what took them so long, as they've always had the request feature (as evidenced by the mook/dank, wwdn etc...). So what did take them so long to do this? Are they afraid it makes it super easy to launder money?

On the poker front, I continue to hemorrhage money like it was my business. I feel like I'm playing fairly well, but just can't get that ol' ev line to turn around. Case in point: last time I played I had AA 7 times. Lost 4 on suckouts,  folded to my BB twice, and won one. 2 of the suckouts were to the same guy, who also rivered 2 pair on my AK. K3o is a perfect hand to flat a 3bet oop and jam the flop when the 3 hits (one of my AA hands). Not really a complaint, I have no problem with getting in good... just wishing I could be on the nice side of variance for a change...

Getting busy at work again, not sure how much I'll be able to play in the next month.

Gone fishin'

Going through a bunch of my old art supplies this weekend. Started drawing and painting again after a long hiatus. Found something that made me chuckle:

Yup. Fish eggs. As with many artists, I use a tackle box for my art supplies. But in my case, I've had the same tackle box since I was 9 or 10. That jar of fish bait has been in there at least that long. 35 year old eggs. Think they'd get me a good price on the Chinese black market?

Here's my trusty Old Pal box:

Under it is a newer tackle box. I got that one when I was 12.

Obviously a Reggie Watts fan

I've been passing this graffiti every day, and this post from Goat reminded me of what it was inspired by...
Just to the right (and down) is the place with the used washing machines.

Excellent NYT Poker article

Jungleman gets an interview. Swiped from Pauly's blog.

On the Blaargh front, I'm pretty much treading water after a few thousand hands at 25NL. I'm way below on EV, but also running some pretty silly bluffs/calldowns, and I've found myself playing too long and tilting (not spazz out throw crap around tilt... just spew my chips tilt). Gotta work on that (again *sigh*).

Gonna get my poker fix in while I can - I think I have another 6 weeks of crazy work coming up again.

Starting to play again...

Little by little, getting sucked back in :)

Won a 5.50 18 man a couple days ago, completely dominated the final table. When down to the last 4, I had 18-20k chips to everyone else's 2k. Got in good every time, hands mostly held, felt good.

Managed to work my way past 1k at 25NL, only playing once or twice a week. Managed to dust off 2 BI at 100NL last night (after getting down to -5BI at one point). Most of it was plain old bad luck: flopped trips go down in flames to runner runners twice, ran JJ into QQ on a guy that shoves with any pair... the usual stuff. Had a fish calling me down with draws and getting there almost every time. Made a couple questionable (read BAD) plays.

Got a str8 flush on an AAx board - didn't get paid, as the river that filled my str8 flush was a 4th club, the tightie managed to find a fold of what I assume was an Ace.

My big win for the night was on tilt management. I didn't tilt at all. When I started getting tired, I took a quick ride on my bike in the cold night air, came back refreshed. I didn't break, throw, mangle, yell or torture anything. I actually enjoy playing again.

As for bankroll management... it's non-existant. I'm going to take myself back down to 25NL for a while, even though I feel most comfortable at 100NL. 10BI is not exactly smart money management.

Help Bastin make art

Read his post here, you degenerates. He promised he'd let me see the unprintable props. Really he didn't, but dang, he should!

In unrelated news... almost almost almost done with the giant amount of work I had. Trying to get rid of it this weekend, then just back to lots of work, rather than daunting amounts... been a rough couple months.

...then I go back to donking away the money I made to waffles.
